Ellis Jr. High Volleyball Takes on TMP

The Junior High Lady Railers opened the 2019-20 volleyball season by traveling to TMP and taking on the Monarchs.  The night opened with the junior varsity starting out slowly, dropping the 1st set 16-25, but fought back in the 2nd match to win 25-23, the 3rd and final set was close the whole time with the lady Railers winning 15-13.  It was a very intense match with us trailing most of the time, but the girls fought back and came out on top!  Leading in serving was Callie Priest who served 19 good serves with 2 aces and Chloe Adkins having 9 good serves.  Leading passer for the match was Callie Priest with 15 and Natalee North close behind adding 11.

The 2nd match of the evening was our c-team going out and taking care of business, winning in straight sets 25-15 and 25-15.  Leading servers were Makenzie Kohlrus with 11 good serves and 3 ace serves and Chloe Atkins with 10 good serves and 3 aces.  Leading passers were Alyssa Rome and Chloe Adkins both with 14 good passes each.  These girls did a great job working together.

The final match of the evening saw the varsity girls take on the Monarchs.  This match didn’t go our way and they dropped the match in consecutive sets going 15-25 & 19-25.  The girls had a lot of positives, but just couldn’t get into a good rhythm against the Monarchs.  Leading in serves was Emily James with 7 good serves and Braelyn Born with 6 good serves and 1 ace.  Leading passers were Emily James with 12 and Jadyn Starns with 7.  Leading hitters were Jadyn Starns with 3 kills and 6 good hits and Taylor Seibel with 1 kill and 7 good hits.  Going forward the girls need to be more aggressive with their offense and not be afraid to hit the ball, we also got caught out of coverage several times.

Our next action is September 12, when we take on Oakley here at home beginning at 4:30.
