Ellis Jr. High Girls Travel to Phillipsburg

Ellis Jr. High girls J.V. basketball team traveled to the Phillipsburg J.V. Tournament on Dec. 14th. In the first game, Ellis J.V. played Phillipsburg J.V., losing to the panthers 22 to 14. The first half of the contest was kept close with Ellis leading at halftime by one point. The panthers came out in the second half putting 18 points on the board compared with Ellis’ nine additional points taking the panthers to a win.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Jennifer Cunningham with seven points. Addison Kohl had four points followed by Natalie North with three. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Brooke Starns with five boards followed by North with four and Sydney Redtzke with three. Kohl had two boards and Grace Brull, Cunningham, Kaycee Cranwell and Maleah Vine each contributed one rebound.

In the second contest of the J.V. tournament, Ellis played TMP. The Lady Railers ended up losing to the Monarchs 27 to 19. Ellis went into halftime behind by 10. In spite of that, Ellis outscored TMP in the second half 15 to 13 but was not enough to overcome the first half scoring drought.

Leading scorer for Ellis in this contest was North with 11 points. Alyssa Rome and Redetzke each had four points. Leading rebounder for Ellis was North with 17 rebounds. Kohl had nine boards. Starns ended up with four rebounds followed by Cranwell and Redtzke with three. Rome and Vine each had one board.
