MCL Boys Results

The MCL tournament began January 21st around the league. The EHS boys were seeded #5 and traveled to Norton (#4) for the first round of the tournament. Ellis was able to run away with the victory, 50-44. Next, the boys traveled to Plainville to face #8 Phillipsburg in the semifinal game. The game started well for the Railers, grabbing an early 13-4 lead. The Panthers started a comeback throughout the 2nd quarter, but Ellis was able to hold the lead going into half, 23-19. Ellis was unable to match the Panther offense getting outscored 26-18 in the second half, ultimately losing, 45-41. For the final game of the tournament, Ellis would face Hill City for the third place game. This game proved to be dogfight, with both teams only putting up 9 points in the first quarter. After a low scoring first half, Hill City had the lead going into halftime, 14-13. Ellis mounted a comeback in the second half, beating the Ringnecks 39-31, and taking 3rd place in the MCL tournament.
